Mike Garl of Local 197 Just Became an OSHA Outreach Trainer!

We are happy to announce that Mike Garl from IATSE Local 197 has recently completed the OSHA Outreach Training program! Mike attended the TTF’s Train the Trainer workshop in April and shortly thereafter began exploring the possibility of becoming an OSHA Outreach Trainer with financial support of the TTF's OSHA Training Institute Supported Funds Program.

The process began when Mike applied to the OSHA Training Institute Education Center at Volunteer State Community College in Tennessee. After submitting the OSHA 501 Prerequisite Verification Form in August, he was able to enroll in the 511 class in September and the 501 class in October. Mike successfully completed these trainings and received his OSHA Outreach Trainer certificate!

I am excited about the possibility of helping provide OSHA training for the members of our alliance.

Mike's dedication to safety includes 20+ years with the PLASA Technical Standards Program. He is the chair of the Technical Standards Council, previously chaired the Rigging Working Group, and is an ETCP Recognized Trainer.
