Train the Trainer: Teaching Techniques and Presentation Skills in Washington, DC

The TTF Train the Trainer: Teaching Techniques and Presentation Skills session is designed to take IATSE workers who are experts in their craft who are or will be training at their local and teaches them education and training techniques to improve their presentation and sharpen their skills as teachers.

The two-day training covers effective teaching techniques, learning styles, training design, and lesson planning for new safety and skills trainers while providing new training techniques to existing trainers. This is a training with something for everyone that is accessible and applicable to all crafts and trainers - new and experienced - with ample time for practice. It is a rigorous, information-packed, and rewarding two days where participants have the opportunity to learn, work, and network with new and existing IATSE worker-trainers from around the US and Canada.

Local unions are invited to nominate up to three IATSE workers from their local to attend our two-day, customized Train the Trainer workshop. Your nominees should be IATSE workers who already are safety or skills trainers for your local or individuals who will become new safety or skills trainers for the local. Click here for more information.

TIME: 8AM - 6PM each day

AV Essentials in Lansing, MI | Local 274

This four-day, hands on course is part of the InfoComm/IATSE TTF Live Event Technician Certificate. InfoComm and the IATSE TTF have developed a customized classroom course and certificate program for IATSE workers making the transition to audiovisual jobs.

Topics include basic setup, operation and troubleshooting of audio, projection, presentation files, and AV networks typical in breakout rooms. Each candidate will be given a set-up to perform in an allotted amount of time as a hands-on final exam.

DATES: August 15 - 18, 2017

TIME: 8AM - 6PM each day

LOCATION: Lansing, MI

INSTRUCTOR: Ben Adams

REGISTRATION: Class size is limited to 28 students per class and daily attendance is mandatory. If you have been nominated to attend this course by Local 274, click here to take the Pre-Class Assessment. This assessment must be submitted at least two weeks prior to the class. Train the Trainer: Master Class for Course Development in Kansas City, MO

The TTF is excited to announce an expansion to our Train the Trainer Program. We have developed a train the trainer workshop for those graduates of the TTF Train the Trainer: Teaching Techniques course with Dr. Johnson. This two-day, intensive workshop is intended for individuals who have conducted at least three craft skills or safety training classes for their local since attending the Train the Trainer: Teaching Techniques course.

Workshop participants come to class with a concrete lesson they want to newly develop or further develop. Participants will learn about and develop various types of activities that demonstrate elements of their lesson plan. The purpose is to use activities to explain the abstract concepts of the safety or skills course being developed/further developed. Ample time will be given in class to write the activities that will be incorporated into the course being developed. Participants must meet the course requirements and be nominated by their locals to attend. Potential participants will need to submit course outlines for the course they plan to develop along with the application.

DATES: Friday, September 15th through Sunday, September 17th, 2017

TIME: Friday from 5-7 PM; Saturday & Sunday from 8AM - 6PM

LOCATION: Kansas City, MO

COST: The Training Trust Fund is paying for the cost of three nights of room and taxes at the hotel where the training is held. Breakfast and lunch will also be provided by the TTF on days that class is in session. As with other courses, the TTF cannot pay for the cost of travel, meals outside of the ones provided, other incidentals, or per diem costs.

OSHA 10/General Entertainment Safety © in Detroit, MI

This two day training covers OSHA policies, procedures, and standards, as well as general industry safety and health principles. Topics include scope and application of the OSHA general industry standards as related to the Entertainment Industry. Special emphasis is placed on those areas that are the most hazardous, using OSHA standards as a guide.

DATES: Sunday, September 17th & Monday, September 18th, 2017

TIME: 8AM - 4PM each day

LOCATION: Detroit, MI

COST: The two day workshop itself is free of charge for participants. The IATSE Training Trust Fund cannot, however, cover the costs for travel, lodging, meals, or per diems associated with travel or participation in this workshop.
