AV Essentials

Course Description

AV Essentials is a four-day, hands on course that is part of the AVIXA/IATSE TTF Live Event Technician Certificate. Take advantage of AVIXA and the IATSE TTF's relationship focused on getting you training for work as an audio visual technician. AVIXA and the IATSE TTF have developed a customized course and certificate program for IATSE workers making the transition to audiovisual jobs.

This course is designed for IATSE workers who want to become audiovisual technicians.

Course Content

The hands-on portion of this class will cover basic setup, operation and troubleshooting of audio, projection, presentation files, and AV networks typical in breakout rooms.

Each candidate will be given a set-up to perform in an allotted amount of time as a hands-on final exam.

About the Certificate Program

After successfully completing the four-day, hands-on classroom course and the prescribed AVIXA online courses, participants will receive an AVIXA/IATSE TTF Live Event Technician Certificate. The online courses cover relevant context to a live event professional – an overview of the AV industry, science, and vocabulary of audiovisual systems, and “AV math” that eliminates system setup guess work.

Time Commitment

This four-day classroom course is eight to ten hours each day. The online courses for the certificate program must be completed within six months following the classroom course. The online courses include:

  • Quick Start to the AV Industry
  • Essentials of AV Technology for IATSE
  • AV Math for IATSE
  • Event Set-up for IATSE

To Sign Up

Class size is limited to 28 students per class and daily attendance is mandatory. Local union officers who are interested in bringing AV Essentials to their local or want more information should contact Ben Adams.
