Announcing OSHA 10-Hour Construction with Focus on the Entertainment Industry Curriculum!

We are delighted to announce our OSHA 10-Hour Construction with Focus on the Entertainment Industry curriculum is now available to local unions throughout the IATSE! We introduced our OSHA 10-Hour General Industry with Focus on the Entertainment Industry curriculum in 2015, and since then, many locals have requested an entertainment focused OSHA Construction Industry curriculum. We heard your requests and developed the PowerPoint presentations, Student Workbook, and Instructor Guide so your local OSHA Outreach Trainer can deliver an OSHA 10-hour Construction class to IATSE craftspeople. We hope the addition of this curriculum helps to further support the development of your local training talent and programs. The distribution of an entertainment industry focused OSHA Construction in addition to the OSHA General Industry curriculum brings us another step closer to the standardization of safety practices and training throughout the industry.

The OSHA 10-Hour Construction with Focus on the Entertainment Industry curriculum includes the OSHA 10 mandated curriculum with examples from the entertainment and exhibition industries. It is designed to teach workers about their rights, employer responsibilities, and how to file a complaint as well as how to recognize, abate, and prevent job-related hazards. The modules are structured for use by local union OSHA Authorized Construction Trainers. Topics include:

  • Introduction to OSHA

  • Personal Protective Equipment

  • Health Hazards

  • Electrical Safety for the Entertainment Industry

  • Slips, Trips, and Falls

  • Stairways and Ladders

  • Scaffolds in the Entertainment Industry

  • Fall Protection

  • Hazard Communication/Globally Harmonized System

  • Materials Handling, Storage, Use, and Disposal

  • Hand and Portable Powered Tool Safety

  • Caught-in or -Between and Struck-by Hazards

Locals licensed to use the OSHA 10-Hour Construction with Focus on the Entertainment Industry curriculum will be provided an Instructor Guide, PowerPoint Presentations, and Workbooks free of charge.
