Rigging 101 in Indiana, PA | Local 636

This introductory rigging course covers:

  • Rigging Gear: Common gear you will need to keep you safe and the tools that you will need

  • Awareness: Working safely in environment while rigging is happening

  • Knot tying; Learning the common knots you will need to know

  • Common rigging gear: Shackles, Wire Rope, Deck chain, Pear ring, etc

  • Theatre rigging and arena rigging: Explanation of the way rigging differs between the two

  • Theatre Rigging: the “pull and pipe method,” tying the well beams, side tab isolation

  • Motors: Common motor you will see and how to properly work them, chain bag safety

  • Arena Rigging: What to expect in arena rigging, how to tie steel on beam

  • Wire rope builds and proper building of the steel: Bridles, Closed and open baskets, etc

  • Down rigging rope techniques: “P.A.R.T.S Method” Communication
