Safety

  • IATSE Safety Hotline (Toll-free: 844-IA AWARE, 844-422-9273): When IATSE members call the IATSE Safety Hotline, they can either leave a message or speak with a safety representative, who will begin handling the issue. Depending on the circumstances, the safety representative will contact the Local’s representative and assist them with the issue, or call the employer directly.

  • Actsafe provides a comprehensive range of industry-specific resources designed to support a safe and healthy workplace across the arts and entertainment sectors. Resources include safety bulletins, fact sheets, OHS templates, toolbox talks, and more.

  • OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) is a national public health agency dedicated to the basic proposition that no worker should have to choose between their life and their job. Publications include posters, booklets, quick cards, fact sheets, and standards. Employers will find OSHA compliance assistance, education, and training resources helpful.

  • Safety Bulletins are researched, written, and distributed by the Industry-Wide Labor-Management Safety Committee for use by the motion picture and television industry. The Industry-Wide Labor-Management Safety Committee is composed of guild, union, and management representatives active in industry safety and health programs.

Mental Health & Well-being

  • Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is a skills-based training course that teaches you how to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental illnesses and substance use disorders. The training gives you the skills you need to reach out and provide support to someone who may be developing a mental health or substance use problem, or experiencing a crisis, and help connect them to the appropriate care.   • #BeThe1To Help Save a Life by downloading Know the Warning Signs posters, graphics, and wallet cards to help prevent suicide. These resources are available in English, Spanish, and French and refer to U.S. and Canadian organizations.

  • Toolbox Talks can help you talk about mental health and well-being in the workplace.

  • Mental Health and Substance Use Screenings are a quick, accessible, and anonymous way to determine if you or someone you care about could benefit from the help and support of a mental health professional or substance misuse services.

  • Alcohol and Substance Use and Abuse Resources can help you, a co-worker, a friend, or a loved one deal with alcohol and drug use. You can equip yourself to respond to signs of substance use in the workplace with Naloxone Training and the BTS Substance Use Task Group’s Webinar on Understanding Substance Use and Abuse in the Entertainment Industry.

  • The Stop Bullying, Harassment, and Intimidation webinar will teach you to safely intervene if you see a co-worker being bullied or intimidated.

  • The Entertainment Industry Therapist Finder (EITF) includes listings for mental health professionals in the US and Canada who have worked with clients in the entertainment industry or have personal professional experience in the industry.
