Starting in 2026, we are offering bi-weekly TTF Safety First! webinars via Zoom. These webinars are free of charge for eligible participants. Those who attend will receive TTF Safety First! webinar credit in the TTF’s Training Tracker.

Hazard Communication: Workplace Chemicals Part 2
This course covers the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS) and has been split into two sessions.
Part 1 on April 30 will cover workers’ right to know about hazardous chemicals, physical properties of chemicals, routes of exposure, and toxic assessment.
Part 2 on May 14 will cover exposure standards, health effects and risks, safety/physical hazards, and key elements of hazard communication.
You are not required to attend both sessions, but Part 2 will build off the information covered during Part 1.

Mobile Elevating Work Platforms
This course covers mobile elevating work platform safety and use. Topics covered include types of MEWPs, loads, inspections, fall hazards, and electrical hazards.
June 11
Rigging Safety
This course provides an overview of terminology and safe practices as they pertain to the methodology and materials used for rigging in the entertainment industry.

TBD: Wardrobe and Costume Department Safety
This awareness course provides workers with information regarding craft-specific safety and health hazards that may occur in the workplace. Topics include ergonomics, fall prevention, small space awareness, electrical safety, chemical protection, safe sanitation and laundry practices, and more.

July 9: Scaffold Safety
This course provides an overview of the use of scaffolds in a trade context. Topics include types of scaffolds, scaffold hazards and controls, and fall protection.

July 23: Welding & Cutting
This course covers the use of welding and cutting equipment. Topics include the proper selection, use, inspection, and care of equipment.

August 6: Noise Exposure
This course explains the effects and controls of noise exposure. It explains basic ear anatomy, the components that make up sound, hearing disorders, noise controls, and elements of an effective hearing conservation program.

August 20: Hand & Portable Power Tools
This course explains the inspection, care, and maintenance of equipment, as well as electrical hazards and important operational safety precautions for this equipment.

September 3: Basic Entertainment Safety
This course provides a general introduction to the world of workplace health and safety. It explains why worker health and safety is important, why injuries and illnesses occur in the workplace, effective injury and illness prevention programs, methods of hazard identification and control, and strategies to promote health and safety.

September 17: Hazard Identification & Safety in the Work Environment: Part 1
This course was designed to identify, give basic information, and share resources on hazards found in work environments. Part 1 will present an overview of situation awareness strategies and how they can be used to identify hazards.
You are not required to attend both sessions, but Part 2 will build off the information covered during Part 1.

October 1: Hazard Identification & Safety in the Work Environment: Part 2
Part 2 will demonstrate several of the 40 Hazard ID micro-courses available on workplace hazards through the TTF, including fact sheets you can reference on the go. Topics covered include:
• Animals and Ecosystems
• Extreme Temperatures
• Facility/Building Structure
• Natural Hazards and Severe Weather
• Roadway and Surrounding Areas
You are not required to attend both sessions, but Part 2 will build off the information covered during Part 1.

October 15: Confined Space/Small Space Awareness
This course describes safe practices while working in confined or small spaces. Topics covered include legal definitions of confined spaces as compared with small spaces, physical and atmospheric hazards, physical and atmospheric controls, elements of an effective confined space entry program, and rescue plans.

October 29: Compressed Gases
This course gives an overview of compressed gas/fuel cylinders. Topics include filling various types of cylinders, an overview of potential dangers, and general safety procedures applicable to working with compressed gas/fuel cylinders.

November 12: Customer Service for the Live Event Industry
This course is designed to equip professionals with the essential skills needed to maintain professionalism and build strong client relationships. The course covers key areas such as communication strategies, emotional regulation, handling challenging situations, cultural awareness, and time management. Participants will gain practical techniques for navigating client interactions, managing unexpected changes, and fostering professionalism in all aspects of their work.

December 3: Rigging Safety
This course provides an overview of terminology and safe practices as they pertain to the methodology and materials used for rigging in the entertainment industry.

December 17: Professional Etiquette
This course is designed to equip IATSE workers with the key skills and behaviors necessary to maintain professionalism across a variety of high-pressure environments. It focuses on essential principles such as punctuality, communication, workplace conduct, and safety protocols. The course also provides practical advice, best practices, and insights that will help individuals navigate workplace challenges with confidence and professionalism.
This webinar will also include a brief demonstration of the Live Events micro-course, which is one of four micro-courses that accompany this course.
