In this eight-hour course, participants will develop the skills required to be ready to do a show call as a Wigs Department member. The course will also touch on the basic skill set required of a Wigs Master in maintenance of wigs.
The attendees of the course will develop skills that include pre-show preparation, wig work during a show call, and maintenance during a run and post production. The skills in show preparation that will be develop include how to pin wigs to a canvas head, putting elastic in a wig, and how to make a head pattern.
Actual show skills that will be taught include prepping hair under a wig, steaming wigs, Edwardian comb out, mustache ventilation, and skills to use when working with performers. The attendees will work with wig-pinning and gluing in a scenario that mirrors actual show conditions. The skills required post-performance that the attendees will gain include wig cleaning, storage, and basic repair.
