IATSE Computer Essentials Curriculum Updated

In collaboration with the IATSE Education and Training Department, the TTF is proud to announce that the IATSE Computer Essentials curriculum has recently been updated and is now available for all locals to use.

The IATSE Computer Essentials course is designed to provide training to all IATSE workers who wish to feel more comfortable using computers. The program also provides trainees with a free LinkedIn Learning subscription through the IATSE Training Trust Fund and supplementary resources to further their understanding of core concepts. IATSE Computer Essentials is a two-day training that is split into two parts. The course objectives for each part include:

Part 1

  • Understand basic computer language and terms and be able to apply them in practice

  • Identify common differences between Windows, Macs, and Chromebooks

  • Access Wi-Fi networks 

  • Navigate the Internet and create an email account through Google

  • Utilize the Internet as an educational tool through LinkedIn Learning

  • Practice and review 

Part 2

  • Understand and identify the various writing and editing tools of office applications: Microsoft Word, Google Docs, LibreOffice Writer, and Pages

  • Transfer materials between devices with a USB flash drive

  • Discuss common social media platforms and understand their practical uses
