TTF Courses & Resources is an online learning platform with industry-specific training covering topics such as safety, technical skills, and workplace best practices. The platform includes self-paced learning modules and valuable resources. This FAQ guide will help you get the most out of the platform.
What is TTF Courses & Resources?
The TTF Courses & Resources learning platform is a learning management system (LMS) created specifically for workers in the entertainment and exhibition industries. We crafted various safety and craft skills online learning programs, which we call training libraries, with subject matter experts who understand the unique work of the crafts.
TTF Courses & Resources allows you to take courses based on your particular training needs. You can access course materials entirely on your own time on your computer or through our mobile app.
Why should I take an online course?
Online courses are a great way to learn for busy professionals who may not have time to dedicate to a live course or webinar. TTF Courses & Resources provides you with the flexibility to work at your own pace and the ability to revisit lessons or entire courses. Plus, you can access it anytime, anywhere.
What training libraries are currently available?
The training libraries include TTF Safety First!, OSHA, Resources, Train the Trainer, and Craft Skills Courses & Videos.
TTF Safety First! Online Courses: Information, tools, and resources to help you recognize potential workplace hazards and minimize risks. Browse through 20 courses ranging from Chemical Protection and Electrical Safety to Ergonomics and Noise Exposure. You can also select from 40 micro-courses after you complete the Hazard Identification and Safety in the Work Environment course. The micro-courses provide additional information on asbestos, extreme temperatures, high winds, lead paint, and more.
OSHA: Available whether you’re in an OSHA class or not, these workbooks include select OSHA Fact Sheets, QuickCards, Standards, Briefs, and lots of safety information.
Resources: Industry-specific materials for IATSE workers, including fact sheets that focus on recognizing potential hazards in built and natural work environments.
Train the Trainer: Facilitation isn’t always simple, and great instruction takes skill. The Train the Trainer series provides new and experienced trainers with the foundational concepts, best practices, and the science behind effective learning. Across six courses, participants explore essential topics that equip them to deliver impactful classroom and on-the-job training.
Craft Skills Courses & Videos: The Customer Service for the Live Events Industry, Professional Etiquette, and STEP UP: Respect in the Workplace courses provide you with essential skills to excel in your craft and promote professionalism in the workplace. You can also watch a knot tutorial video and download professional etiquette glossaries for Convention & Tradeshow, Film & TV, Live Events & Stagecraft, and Sports Broadcast.
How do I get an account?
You can apply for a TTF Courses & Resources account by clicking here. We will email your login credentials after we verify your eligibility for TTF programs.
How do I browse the course catalog?
Click the “Log In to the Learning Platform” button on the TTF Courses & Resources webpage or on any of the training library webpages and enter your login credentials. Select a training library to browse available courses or use the search bar to type keywords like “live events” or “rigging.”
Can I take the courses on my phone or tablet?
Yes! We designed TTF Courses & Resources to ensure you can navigate courses on any device you choose, from computers to tablets to smartphones. Click here to download the TTF Courses & Resources mobile app.
What browsers can I use?
You can take the courses using Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Microsoft Edge. Internet Explorer is not supported, and we are not able to fix any difficulties you may have with a course if you are using IE as your browser.
Will my progress be saved if I log out before I finish a course?
Yes, your course progress is saved every 15 seconds when you have a reliable internet connection, and you will be able to resume where you left off when you come back to the course later. To ensure you save your course progress, click Exit Course at the top right corner before closing the page.
Do these courses lead to industry certifications?
While you won’t earn an industry certification, you will get a completion certificate that shows you finished the indicated course. Your local union or employer may require you to complete a certain course or set of courses, and the certificate can help you prove you did what was required.
Additionally, TTF Safety First! has been an ETCP Recognized Training Program since August 18, 2021. As an ETCP Recognized Electrical and Rigging Program, select TTF Safety First! courses you complete will grant you continuing education credits you can use when you recertify. You’ll need to submit your completion certificate for credit verification. Click here to learn more.
Do course completion certificates expire?
No, TTF Courses & Resources completion certificates do not expire.
Can I download my course completion certificate?
Yes. After you complete a course, you can download your completion certificate from the TTF Courses & Resources portal. Find the course you took and click on Completion Certificate to save a copy for your records.
Beyond online courses, what other learning resources can I expect?
This year, we are offering bi-weekly TTF Safety First! webinars via Zoom. These webinars are free of charge for eligible participants. Click here to browse the webinar schedule and register.
The Resource library contains supplementary appendices and 40 fact sheets packed with additional information that you can reference anytime—perfect for downtime on set or when you need to know more about workplace hazards on location.
