Introduction to Follow Spot Operation

This course explores the art of followspot operation by focusing on the fundamentals involved. During this presentation, students will learn the following:

  • Types of followspots

  • Safety concerns

  • Setup and adjustments

  • Followspot controls

  • Using sights

  • Actions and common moves

  • Cue, cue sheets and protocols

  • Remote control followspots

A demonstration and practical application of the training follows. Depending upon the location and types of equipment available, students will perform various skills that are required by operators. They will be allowed to experiment with the controls and be prompted to execute cues.

Sighting devices and working cues sheets will be displayed.
