Video Assist

The role of a video assist technician has changed drastically over the decades from BNC cabling to streaming wireless to multiple devices, networks, and locations. In this training, students will learn the basics of non-record video assist on the most current equipment. The goal is to give students hands-on training in preparation for the demands of real-world physical production.

David Presley has worked in the television and film industry for over 25 years as a member of IA695, IA665 and IA600 and heads the Video Assist Department. Over the years, David has adapted with the changing technology from videotape recording to streaming wirelessly to devices over multiple computer and internet networks. Due to his extensive knowledge of various types of equipment, platforms, and integrations, he is highly requested by top level producers and directors. He is confident in his ability and can breakdown and put back together any piece of equipment – which he has had to do when equipment fails on location. David enjoys sharing his knowledge with the next generation.
