Portable Power for the Entertainment Industry
This course reviews standards and practices for safe portable power distribution for the entertainment industry. This course covers electrical skills, applicable codes and standards, and system planning as outlined by ETCP and NEC Standards and OSHA General Industry codes for electrical safety in the workplace. Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be able to recognize and address electrical hazards in the workplace, safely set up and operate power distribution systems, and have a firm foundation for success on the ETCP Portable Power Distribution Technician Exam.

Michael Matthews, M.F.A is ETCP Certified as an Arena Rigger, Theatre Rigger, Entertainment Electrician, and Portable Power Distribution Technician and is a SPRAT certified Rope Access Worker. Since beginning his career in 2001 rigging for the fall fashion shows in New York City, Michael has served as a Head Rigger, Production Carpenter, Master Electrician, Technical Director, and Production Supervisor for shows and events in a wide range of venues, including Broadway theaters, arenas, convention centers, ballrooms, and temporary outdoor installations. He currently serves as the Head Electrician for the Ziff Ballet Opera House at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County. Michael is an ETCP-recognized trainer for renewal credits as well as an OSHA Authorized trainer for General Industry, and serves as a Subject Matter Expert for the ETCP Entertainment Electrician Exam
