AHA Heartsaver CPR/AED/First Aid
The American Heart Association Heartsaver® CPR/AED & First Aid course provides hands-on training for workplace responders, including IATSE film crews. It focuses on recognizing and responding to medical emergencies such as cardiac arrest, breathing emergencies, choking, and common on-set injuries. The course emphasizes practical, real-world response skills appropriate for fast-paced production environments.
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
Recognize signs of cardiac arrest and other life-threatening emergencies
Perform high-quality CPR
Safely and effectively use an automated external defibrillator (AED)
Respond to choking incidents
Provide basic first aid, including bleeding control and injury response (when included)
Act quickly and appropriately until professional medical help arrives

Patrick Reynolds is the lead instructor at PARCAN Training, a provider of on‑site First Aid, CPR, and AED training for workplaces and organizations. With many decades of experience in the entertainment industry, Patrick has extensive firsthand knowledge of the unique safety challenges on film sets, stages, and live-event productions. He is certified in Adult and Pediatric CPR/First Aid/AED, First Aid for Severe Trauma, Wilderness/Remote First Aid, Blood-borne Pathogens, and Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events. Patrick specializes in tailoring life-saving and emergency response training to the fast-paced, high-risk conditions typical of IATSE crews and production environments.
