First Aid/CPR/AED

This course is designed to help participants recognize and respond appropriately to cardiac, breathing, and first aid emergencies to know to give immediate care to a suddenly injured or ill person until more advanced medical personnel arrive and take over.

  • How and when to perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

  • Caring for a conscious and unconscious choking victim

  • Steps to take to protect yourself and your victim from disease when performing CPR

  • Use of the AED (automated external defibrillator)

  • The Good Samaritan Law and how it relates to CPR

  • How to control severe bleeding and how to apply a pressure bandage

  • Prevention and care of "shock"

  • Treatment of fractures, sprains, strains, and dislocations

  • Principles of splinting

  • Care for all types of burns (chemical, heat, electrical)

  • Treatment of insect and animal bites and stings

  • Signals of, and care for, allergic reactions and poisoning

  • Recognition and treatment of sudden illnesses (including heart attack, stroke, asthma, and diabetic emergencies)

  • Treatment of temperature-related emergencies (heat exhaustion, heat stroke, hypothermia)

  • Care for seizures

Course Description

Trainer

Pete Cinamella, IATSE Local 835

Location: Orland, FL

Pete Cinamella is an experienced and dedicated instructor with a diverse background in emergency medical services and training. Pete's journey in the healthcare and safety industry spans over three decades, showcasing his passion for teaching and saving lives.

From his early days as an Emergency Department Technician and Operating Room Technician at the MASH Unit in the United States Army Reserve to his roles as a Combat Medic, Field Medic, and Hospital Technician in the United States Army, Pete has honed his skills in critical care and emergency response. His experience as a Combat Lifesaver Instructor further demonstrates his commitment to educating others on life-saving techniques.

In addition to his military service, Pete has also served as a part-time EMT on an ambulance crew in Colorado Springs, where he provided immediate medical care in high-pressure situations. His role as a Home Health Aide allowed him to extend his compassion and expertise to patients in need of specialized care.

Pete's dedication to training and education led him to become a First Aid Instructor with IATSE Local 835, where he shared his knowledge with fellow professionals in the entertainment industry. As an American Red Cross First Aid/CPR BLS Instructor, Pete continues to empower individuals with life-saving skills.
