Intro to Set Dec Truck

This class is structured as if trainees have just joined a crew. For the truck, topics include reviewing the standard equipment used on a truck (ropes, ratchet straps, furniture moving equipment), how to use ratchet straps and ropes, how to box smalls, how to label boxes, and how to transport them safely. For the warehouse, topics include how to use a pallet jack and wrap a pallet with shrink, how to palletize and wrap out a set, etc. On Day 2, students learn about hand tools, power tools, various configurations bags, and tool storage.

Robert Schwarer is a Union Set Dresser, Onset Dresser, and indie/commercial Leadmen/Set Decorator. He studied Technical Design and Drafting in Theatre with a focus on Construction/Sound Design. He then dropped out after a year to pursue working in live entertainment music/theatre as technician in sound/electrics. He has 10 years’ experience over all in entertainment.
